Key Facts
- Describe the actual commercial relationship.
- A sponsor brief is not evidence for every product claim.
- Review public disclosure and platform notification separately.
- Check reuse rights before supplying a sponsor's version.
What Does YouTube Require You To Tell It?
YouTube says creators featuring branded content, sponsorships, endorsements or other commercial relationships must notify it through the paid-promotion setting in video details. Selecting it adds a disclosure label at the beginning. The guidance also says creators and partners remain responsible for applicable legal requirements.

The setting notifies the platform. The full viewer disclosure and legal requirements depend on the actual arrangement and relevant jurisdictions. This worksheet does not replace that assessment.
Read the current guidance while preparing the upload because interface wording and available controls can change.
What Does A Sponsor-Brief Review Sheet Look Like?
The following author-created example concerns a fictional notebook sponsor for a study-planning Short. The brand and agreement are invented.
Supply the commercial arrangement, sponsor requests, claim evidence and proposed distribution. The review should return a corrected brief, disclosure wording, assigned platform action and unresolved scope questions. It does not certify advertising-law compliance.
Scroll this table sideways to see every column.
| Brief Item | Fictional Request | Review Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial relationship | Sponsor pays for a dedicated demonstration | Describe the paid sponsorship clearly |
| Opening line | “The notebook that fixes procrastination” | Reject unsupported outcome claim |
| Supported demonstration | Show the removable page tabs | Film the actual feature and explain its use |
| Viewer context | Mention the sponsor after the demonstration | Move clear context before the endorsement |
| Platform action | Uploader handles details | Assign the paid-promotion selection explicitly |
| Sponsor approval | Review brand name and factual product details | Creator retains editorial review; both parties check their applicable duties |
| Reuse | Sponsor wants the video for advertising | Assess agreement and asset permissions separately |
Demonstrate the page tabs in the planning routine without promising to solve procrastination.
A possible opening for this fictional arrangement is: “This Short is sponsored by the notebook maker. Here is how I use its removable tabs to separate current tasks from notes.” The wording must match the real arrangement and the disclosure requirements that apply to it.
Which Claims Need Evidence Before Filming?
Highlight comparisons, performance claims, endorsements and statements about what the product will do for the viewer. Ask what supports each one.
For the notebook, “the tabs are removable” can be demonstrated with the actual item. “The best system for every student” is a much broader claim. Replace it with a description of the specific routine unless suitable substantiation supports the wider statement.
Do not write a personal experience you did not have. If you are demonstrating a proposed workflow, say so. A faceless format does not make invented testimony more acceptable.

How Do You Keep Disclosure Clear During Editing?
Place the disclosure where the viewer will understand the relationship before interpreting the endorsement. Make it readable and consistent with the spoken context.
Do not hide material information inside a fast caption or a background label that disappears behind the interface. Watch the export at phone size and confirm that viewers can read the disclosure in the finished scene.
If the sponsor changes the arrangement after the first draft, revisit the disclosure. A supplied product, paid placement and affiliate arrangement are not interchangeable descriptions.
What Must Be Settled Before Handoff?
Identify who approves the factual demonstration, who checks the disclosure and who prepares the upload settings. Give each person the same final export and description version.
Review the sponsor's reuse request against the performer, music, stock and other asset permissions. A video prepared for the creator's channel should not automatically be supplied for a different advertising context.
Use an asset log for that scope review: https://dreamwild.ai/guides/video-asset-licence-log/
The completed brief should let the editor make a clear, useful demonstration with no unsupported promises hidden in the script. If a material question remains unresolved, keep it visible in the handoff and finish that decision before the sponsored version is published.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is A Sponsor's Approval Enough To Approve The Whole Video?
No. Review factual claims, asset permissions, viewer context and the platform settings yourself. Sponsor approval answers only the agreed commercial review.
Should The Disclosure Explain The Relationship?
Use wording that accurately describes the arrangement, such as a paid sponsorship or supplied product, and check the requirements relevant to the publication.
Can I Promise The Sponsor Unlimited Reuse?
Only after the actual agreement and every relevant asset permission support that scope. Review reuse separately from the original channel video.
What If The Sponsor Requests An Unsupported Claim?
Ask for suitable evidence or revise the wording to something you can substantiate. Do not make the claim merely because it appears in the brief.

Do not promise a sponsor public release through DreamWild's current YouTube integration: it is private-upload-only pending audit approval.
